Smoke Detector's Save Lives

When was the last time that you checked your smoke detector or changed its battery?

A smoke detector will save your life as long as you install them and keep them working by changing the battery twice a year. In the Pottstown area, there are people that can testify that their lives were saved by smoke detectors. Unfortunately, there are cases where people have died because they did not have a single working smoke detector in their home.

You should install at least one smoke detector on every floor of your home. A central location at the top of a stairwell will help to detect a fire from a lower floor more rapidly than a smoke detector at the end of a hallway on the same floor. Also if you have a large home, you should have no more than 20 feet between smoke detectors on the same floor. Each bedroom should have a smoke detector too. Please follow the manufacturers suggestions that come with every new smoke detector.

I recommend that you check your smoke detector once a week and that you change your battery twice a year. Now that you are done reading, its time to check your smoke detectors.

I hope that if I visit your home, that I will find working smoke detectors with fresh batteries.
