Engine ten (69-22) was the first of its type to come to the area. It was also the first automatic fire truck to be in Pottstown. This truck replaced the 1934 American LaFrance Scout, A major decision in this purchase was the color of the new truck. A vote was held and the winning color was lime-yellow. At the time of the debate there was a major fire at the Hill school. Our American LaFrance ladder was scorched and would need a new paint job, this is how the company changed from red to lime-yellow trucks. Engine ten has been a very great positive piece of fire fighting apparatus. It has received many positive comments in various fire service magazines as “a pumper that incorporates bold innovation and progressive concepts.” This is also how the company adopted the name “ The REEL Men” from its seven hose reels.
Features of this truck is the length 25 feet over all, Six electrical hose reels, four air packs, three spare bottles for breathing and a miscellaneous hand & power tools. The bell on this truck is from the 1934 American Lafrance Scout.
